The useful comparison is at the same conditions
A 10L or 20L name is a category label based on warm, humid laboratory conditions. It is not what either machine will collect from an ordinary UK room every day. Meaco also publishes results at 10°C and 20°C, allowing a fairer comparison.
At 10°C and 60% RH, the published figures are 1.38 L/day and 121 W for the 10L, versus 3.35 L/day and 176 W for the 20L. At 20°C and 60% RH they rise to 4.19 L/day and 136 W versus 8.50 L/day and 207 W. The larger model still leads, but both outputs fall far below their names in realistic moderate humidity.

Airflow can decide the laundry result
Laundry drying requires water to evaporate from fabric before the machine can collect it. The 20L's maximum airflow is published at 255 m³/h against 140 m³/h for the 10L, so its advantage is not only compressor capacity. A correctly aimed louvre and spaced rack still matter.
For one occasional lightweight load, the smaller machine may finish acceptably with less bulk. Towels, bedding and several weekly loads are where the 20L's airflow and 4.8-litre tank are easier to justify.
Compare cost per outcome, not watts alone
At 20°C and 60% RH, the 20L draws about 52% more power but publishes just over twice the daily extraction. That does not prove it will halve real drying time, because fan setting, load and room conditions intervene, but it shows why hourly wattage alone can favour the wrong machine.
Use a plug meter over a complete comparable load. Record starting wet mass, finish condition, total time and kWh. The relevant number is electricity per acceptably dry load or per day at controlled humidity.
The controls are more similar than different
Both models publish three fan speeds, a directional louvre, night mode, smart laundry controls, app support, continuous drainage and a five-year warranty. The purchase decision is therefore mostly capacity, airflow, noise, tank and physical size—not access to a fundamentally different control system.
The 10L's noise figures are 35, 38 and 44 dB(A); the 20L's are 38, 40 and 50 dB(A). Treat these as comparison signals, because sound character and room vibration still affect comfort.
A simple decision rule
Start with the 10L for one normally heated bedroom, office or small flat with modest moisture. Move to the 20L when you dry family loads repeatedly, want one machine to influence connected rooms, or have logs showing that a smaller machine runs continuously without reaching target RH.
Neither fixes leaks, penetrating damp or severe cold bridges. Measure the problem first and keep a return route if noise or real-world throughput does not suit the room.

Is the Arete Two 20L twice as powerful as the 10L?
At some matching test conditions its published extraction is around twice as high, but real completion time also depends on airflow, temperature, room volume and moisture load.
Which model is cheaper to run?
The 10L uses fewer watts per hour at the published conditions. The 20L may complete a heavy task sooner, so compare total kWh per completed load or controlled day.
Which is quieter?
The 10L has lower published figures at all three fan speeds. Your room, floor and sensitivity to compressor or fan tone still matter.
Do both models work in cold rooms?
Both have a stated 5–35°C operating range, but compressor extraction falls as air becomes cooler. For a persistently cold garage, compare desiccant models too.
