The useful answer

The 20L is the first Arete Two size with the larger 4.8-litre tank and 255 m³/h maximum airflow. Its published 8.50 L/day at 20°C / 60% RH is a substantial step above the compact models, but the 15.1 kg chassis, higher rated input and 50 dB(A) top setting are real trade-offs.

Transparent energy example

What does 207 W mean in pounds?

At an example electricity rate of 25p/kWh, the published input at 20°C / 60% RH equals about 5.17p per powered hour. Twenty powered hours would be about £1.03.

This is an input calculation, not a bill prediction. A dehumidifier can cycle after reaching its target, and temperature, humidity, fan mode and the moisture source alter runtime. A larger model can also finish a demanding task sooner.

Decision check

Where this model makes sense—and where to pause.

Compare the 20L with the 12L when deciding whether the bigger chassis and airflow are justified. Compare it with the 25L when recovery speed matters: the two share dimensions, tank size and maximum airflow, while the 25L publishes higher extraction and input.

On-paper strengths
  • Published 8.50 L/day at 20°C / 60% RH and 3.35 L/day at 10°C / 60% RH.
  • Up to 255 m³/h airflow and a 4.8-litre tank.
  • Same footprint, tank size and maximum airflow as the 25L at a lower published input.
  • App control, three fan settings, louvre, laundry mode and continuous drainage.
Check before buying
  • The 618 × 366 × 272 mm chassis is much larger than the 10L and 12L body.
  • Published weight is 15.1 kg and the model is not wall mountable.
  • The top published noise setting is 50 dB(A); compare the intended operating mode, not only the quietest figure.
  • A higher input does not by itself prove a higher cost per completed laundry load because runtime can differ.

Exact-model questions

What buyers usually need clarified.

How much does the Arete Two 20L cost to run?

Meaco publishes 207 W at 20°C / 60% RH. At an example 25p/kWh, rated input costs about 5.2p per powered hour. Actual cost depends on tariff, conditions, mode, target humidity and compressor duty cycle.

Is the Arete Two 20L much bigger than the 12L?

Yes. The published dimensions rise from 472 × 319 × 237 mm to 618 × 366 × 272 mm, weight rises from 10.9 kg to 15.1 kg, tank size rises from 2.5 L to 4.8 L and maximum airflow rises from 140 to 255 m³/h.

Should I buy the 20L or 25L?

They share the same published dimensions, 4.8-litre tank and 255 m³/h maximum airflow. The 25L publishes higher extraction and higher rated input. Compare recovery speed, expected conditions, price and actual duty rather than assuming the largest is always best.
