What we would compare first
We compared the 12L versions only, at matching room conditions. We separated compressor extraction from the Two's fan, display and control changes so the generation label did not manufacture a performance claim.
MeacoDry Arete One 12L
Best paper fit: Simple local controls and a strong discount against the newer model
The One remains a capable specification match on core extraction and low-speed noise, but it lacks the Two's high-airflow laundry setting, louvre, app and timers.
- Removal at 20°C / 60% RH
- 5.23 L/day
- Power at that condition
- 151 W
- Maximum airflow
- 100 m³/h
- Noise
- 35 / 38 dB(A)
- Tank
- 2.5 L
- Weight
- 10.9 kg
- Near-identical core extraction
- Same dimensions and weight
- Same low- and high-setting noise as the Two's first two speeds
- Simpler non-connected operation
- No app or voice control
- No directional louvre
- Two fan speeds and 100 m³/h maximum airflow
- Higher published input at common matching conditions
MeacoDry Arete Two 12L
Best paper fit: Laundry airflow, scheduled operation and remote control without a bigger appliance
The Two is the stronger default when the price gap is reasonable: it adds useful controls and 40% more maximum airflow while keeping the same body and nearly the same extraction class.
- Removal at 20°C / 60% RH
- 5.40 L/day
- Power at that condition
- 136 W
- Maximum airflow
- 140 m³/h
- Noise
- 35 / 38 / 44 dB(A)
- Tank
- 2.5 L
- Weight
- 10.9 kg
- Third high-airflow fan speed
- Manual louvre and adjustable timers
- App, Alexa and Google control
- Lower condition-matched input figures
- May cost more
- 44 dB(A) applies at the additional high speed
- Connected features add setup and account considerations
Core size and extraction barely change
This is not a move to a larger dehumidifier. Both pages state the same dimensions, 10.9 kg weight, 2.5-litre tank, 5–35°C operating range and five-year warranty. At 20°C / 60% RH, published extraction moves only from 5.23 to 5.40 L/day.
If the question is simply whether the Two removes dramatically more moisture through its compressor, the answer is no. Its more consequential upgrades concern fan airflow, directional control, automation and the input power stated alongside Meaco's extraction tests.
| Feature | Arete One 12L | Arete Two 12L |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions / weight | 472 × 319 × 237 mm / 10.9 kg | 472 × 319 × 237 mm / 10.9 kg |
| Fan motor | AC | DC |
| Airflow | 80 / 100 m³/h | 80 / 100 / 140 m³/h |
| Noise | 35 / 38 dB(A) | 35 / 38 / 44 dB(A) |
| Louvre | No | Yes |
| App / voice control | No | Yes |
| On/off and laundry timers | No | Yes |
The Two's extra noise figure belongs to an extra speed
It is misleading to compare the One's 38 dB(A) maximum with the Two's 44 dB(A) maximum without noting the airflow. Both publish 35 and 38 dB(A) on their shared 80 and 100 m³/h settings. The Two then adds a 140 m³/h setting at 44 dB(A).
For quiet overnight control, the low-speed paper case is therefore tied. For laundry, the Two can trade more noise for 40% more maximum fan airflow and direct it with a manual louvre. How that sounds and changes drying time still needs a shared-room test.
Published extraction is close; input power favours the Two
At 20°C / 60% RH, the One publishes 5.23 L/day at 151 W and the Two 5.40 L/day at 136 W. At 20°C / 80% RH, the figures are 8.33 L/day at 157 W and 8.51 L/day at 142 W. These tables suggest a lower-input update rather than a new extraction class.
One condition does not prove annual savings. Compressor cycling, fan choice, target humidity and the room change total energy use. Measure completed-task kWh if running cost is central to the upgrade decision.
| Room condition | Arete One 12L | Arete Two 12L |
|---|---|---|
| 10°C / 60% RH | 1.95 L/day · 130 W | 1.97 L/day · 111 W |
| 20°C / 60% RH | 5.23 L/day · 151 W | 5.40 L/day · 136 W |
| 20°C / 80% RH | 8.33 L/day · 157 W | 8.51 L/day · 142 W |
| 30°C / 80% RH | 12.18 L/day · 198 W | 11.99 L/day · 182 W |
Decide whether the connected controls solve a real problem
The Two adds Meaco app support, Alexa and Google voice control, a display showing current and target humidity, on/off timers, adjustable laundry timing, a high-humidity indicator and an optimum-target indicator. These can be useful when the unit sits in a utility room or you want a defined laundry window.
They do not improve a bad room setup. Remote switching cannot repair a blocked extract fan, a leak or furniture pressed against a cold wall. Buyers who prefer a simple appliance without connected setup may reasonably value the One—provided its live price reflects the older feature set.
Use this buying rule
Buy the Arete Two 12L when you are starting from scratch and the price difference is modest, especially for laundry or remote operation. Buy the Arete One 12L when it is materially cheaper, you want straightforward local control and its 100 m³/h maximum airflow is enough.
Do not replace a working One solely because the Two exists. The extraction tables are too close to promise a dramatic humidity change. Upgrade when the louvre, high fan speed, timers, app or measured energy use solves a specific limitation.
Common questions
Questions this guide should answer
Is the Meaco Arete Two 12L more powerful than the One 12L?
Its maximum fan airflow is higher—140 versus 100 m³/h—but condition-matched compressor extraction is very close. At 20°C / 60% RH, Meaco publishes 5.40 versus 5.23 L/day.
Is the Arete Two 12L quieter?
The shared 80 and 100 m³/h settings have the same published 35 and 38 dB(A) figures. The Two adds a 140 m³/h setting at 44 dB(A), so its maximum is louder because it has an extra speed.
Does the Arete One work with the Meaco app?
No. Meaco lists app and voice control for the Arete Two, not the Arete One.
Are the filters and tank different?
Both are sold as dehumidifier/air-purifier models with a washable dust filter, included HEPA filter and 2.5-litre tank. Check current replacement-filter compatibility before ordering accessories.
Should an Arete One owner upgrade to an Arete Two?
Only for a feature or measured-use reason. The Two's louvre, extra fan speed, timers and app are useful, but the published extraction difference alone is small.
